Help for Students: What To Do When It Really is TOO Late
I wish I had this great advice from Edith, OSB back when I was a student. She offers some good tips for what to do when you realize that an assignment deadline looms and it really is too late to get it done.
There's one other tactic: tell your teacher something he's never heard before. My friend in college was going to a professor to ask for an extension on a paper deadline. Already severely sleep deprived, she went up to him and yelped, "I've come to throw my feet at your mercy!"

(She got the extension.)
