The rhythm method is notoriously ineffective and should not be relied on, no matter how green it might seem.
Good thing NFP is much more reliable. It amazes me (perhaps it shouldn't) that some people who are so concerned with the environment get so upset about people fulfilling the commandment to go forth and multiply.
"Let's save the planet so it's a better place to live, but let's not have any more kids because they'll destroy the planet." Oy.
