I read this yesterday and found the story so troubling and sad that I walked around Sam's asking God why he would let that happen as I shopped. I had just written a post that included a piece about God's provision (from the novel Gilead), and suddenly realized he would make provision for Elanor. I have to trust that he will anyway; the Holy Spirit seemed to be leading my thoughts on this b/c I don't think I would have realized it on my own.
